since i'll be on break for the next few months, i decided a few weeks ago that i wanted to reread all 1000+ chapters of detective conan (much to the chagrin of my friends, who are still waiting for me to read other manga that they'd rec'd me maybe 4 years ago LOL). then i remembered that the movies existed, and that i'd only watched maybe five (?) of them before, so i decided to watch all the movies before i started my manga reread :D

there's no meta or analyses here, just random commentary fresh from my brain as i'm watching the movies! it actually took three times as many days as i thought i'd take for me to watch all the movies lmao x___x
+ ranking of movies in terms of personal enjoyment whilst watching them at the end. overall i really like the movies though T__T

THE TIME BOMBED SKYSCRAPER (1997)

• lmao not shinichi pretending to forget conan's name when conan is supposed to be his cousin that he """imparted wisdom upon often""" when conan was younger
• according to this movie ran is a taurus! though i dont think that's manga canon T__T icb shinichi forgot that may 3rd was a day before his birthday LMFAO. shinichi's birthday being the same day holmes and moriarty fell to their... fake death (?)... nearly everything i know about sherlock holmes is bc of shinichi tbh
• ran: which do you like better? red or blue?
  shinichi: red, i guess
  ran: red? i thought so! i knew you'd say red
  shinichi (thinking): red is your favourite colour, after all
• world-famous architect has cooking as a side hobby that never gets mentioned again
• also random detective boys appearance on the train that i expected to affect the plot more than it actually did
• kogoro scolding conan for putting himself in danger was kind of touching ;-;
• the lack of haibara is so strange to me LMFAO im so used to seeing her w/ prof agasa and the detective boys
• "architecture needs no love." ......okay
• i'm glad ran is alright i thought the ceiling completely fell on her at first omfg i was so shocked

THE FOURTEENTH TARGET (1998)

• when i saw ran's mum in the first scene i didn't realise she was meant to be aged younger but i kept thinking something was off.. turns out it was bc her hair was down instead of its usual bun style lmao
• Q♦ 8♦ A♥ 7♠ = conan and [ayumi] are a perfect match
• (input = conan's birthday) 10♣ 7♣ A♣ K♥ = a sudden closeness to a special someone + a chance for "A" [i.e. a kiss]

• only 30 mins in so far but imo it's kinda? odd that shinichi makes the connection that all the victims so far (megure, eri, agasa) are related to kogoro, because agasa is only minimally related to him via a line of mutual acquaintances

• how does she know murakami jou is a creep if he's not famous...?
